Craig Williams, VP Quality, Global Total Quality Principle Lead, Johnson Controls, Inc.

Craig Williams is currently VP of Quality and Global Total Quality Principle Leader of Johnson Controls. He first joined Johnson Controls and was appointed Vice President of Quality for the Power Solutions Business Unit in 2012. Prior to coming to Johnson Controls, he was with Eaton Corporation and held roles as the Vice President of Quality for the Aerospace Group and Director of Quality within Eaton’s Corporate Quality team. With previous companies, he held leadership roles in Quality within the Automotive, Pharmaceutical and Graphic Arts Industries.

He is active in the international quality standards community as well as various industry associations. He is currently the convener for ISO/TC176/SC1/WG1. Within this role he is the global leader of the revision process for ISO 9000:2015. He is an active member and current chair of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Quality Steering Committee. He has authored and participated in multiple publications including industry reference manuals, articles, and a previous book in the field of Quality Management Systems.

He holds an MBA, with an emphasis in Operations Management from Lewis University and a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry from Illinois Wesleyan University.

  • Extensive manufacturing experience in various industries including Pharmaceutical, Graphic Arts, Aerospace, Fluid Power, Electrical, and Automotive
  • Senior Member of American Society for Quality
  • Member of American Aerospace Quality Group
  • Convener of ISO/TC 176/SC 1/ WG1 – Chair in drafting the current revision to ISO 9000
  • Vice Chair of TG 9001/9004 of the US TAG to ISO/TC 176 – US Technical Advisory Group to the international standards group on ISO 9001
  • Delegate representing the US TAG on the international drafting committee for the publication of the ISO 9001:2008 revision (TG 1.19 of ISO/TC 176/SC 2)
  • Member of the ISO/TC 176 Chairman’s Strategic Advisory Group (CSAG)
  • Convener of the ISO/TC 176 Strategic Planning Task Force (SPTF)
  • Secretary of the ISO/TC 176 Task Group on the Future of ISO 9001
  • Current Chair of the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Quality Steering Committee
  • Former Chair of the AIAG Special Process Project Team
  • Contributing Author to the 2nd Edition to the AIAG Advanced Product Quality Planning reference manual
  • Co-Author of books entitled, “Insiders Guide to ISO 9001:2008” and “The ISO 9001:2015 Handbook – A Practical Guide to Implementation” – Paton Pres
