Many organizations waste a great deal of time and money reacting to issues and challenges that reoccur year after year. Organizations wanting to improve their quality management system (QMS) beyond minimum compliance requirements now have a maturity model tool to address each segment of a QMS. The International Aerospace Quality Group® (IAQG) developed the AIMMsm application to target specific, systemic issues and help an organization improve by progressing through a series of maturity steps that are intended to transition from a reactive to a proactive environment, thus optimizing the full value and benefit of a QMS.
The AIMM application is an industry developed improvement maturity model and can be used to assess the entire scope of a QMS, as well as a subset of an organization’s selected, prioritized areas of interest. Assessments can also be conducted as frequently as deemed necessary based on the organization’s assessment results, strategy and targeted goals to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
Don’t let the title of AIMM limit you and consider the AS9100, or 9100 utilizes ISO 9001 as its baseline, adding aviation, space and defense (AS&D) requirements (bold italic) to it, so the ISO 9001 requirements are represented in their entirety in this maturity model. It has a far greater potential audience than AS&D.
