Effective Process Objectives & EscapesFrank Cain, Consultant, Auditor and Trainer, FPCain, LLC, Palm Harbor, FL, USA Keywords: Process Objectives, Escapes Industry: Aviation/Space Level: Basic AbstractEffective Process Objectives & Escapes Over many years of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 Quality Management Systems auditing, consulting, and training of employees, I have noted a consistent need for Organizations to improve their understanding, selection and use of process objectives. Organizations initially struggled with the proper selection of their process objectives. Objectives selected were cumbersome to maintain (required lots of data to collect and analyze), and they failed to measure the effectiveness of their individual processes. My presentation presents an easily understandable application model for creating process objectives which require almost no data collection (with a target of zero occurrences), which will measure individual process effectiveness. A complete understanding of the specific process is required; that is, the process purpose, its inputs, outputs, process flow and its immediate internal or external customer. From this understanding an objective based on an escape to that customer is created to measure process effectiveness. Examples presented and included illustrate the concepts. The presented objectives can be adopted by your Organization for measurement of your individual process effectiveness. |
