Scott Nicholson, VP Quality for Pelican Products, a global manufacturer of protective cases and industrial safety flashlights, has spent his career in various positions in manufacturing. When he joined Pelican as its first Manufacturing Engineer he started to work closely with Quality team. The quality of the products being produced and the reliability of them in the market became a focus for improvements. The unconditional Pelican lifetime guarantee resulted a constant stream of field failures back to the facility. Customers were also encouraged to visit the facility to exchange their products. Meeting customers that had product failures while on duty or in positions of danger, and experiencing their emotion, did not become a favorite part of the job. The focus on our customers passion has been placed into continually improving products and services by reviewing data and narrowing in on actions that will resolve issues quickly and effectively.
